Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about PDFFlow and our PDF processing tools.
What is PDFFlow?▼
PDFFlow is a free online platform that provides a comprehensive set of PDF processing tools. You can merge, compress, split, rotate, watermark, convert, protect, and unlock PDF files directly in your web browser without installing any software or creating an account.
Is PDFFlow really free?▼
Yes, PDFFlow is completely free to use. There are no hidden charges, premium tiers, or subscription fees. All tools are available to all users without limitations. We sustain the service through non-intrusive advertising.
Do I need to create an account?▼
No, PDFFlow does not require any registration, login, or account creation. You can start using any tool immediately by visiting the website. We do not collect personal information or require email addresses.
Are my files secure and private?▼
Absolutely. PDFFlow processes all files directly in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Your PDF files are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party servers. The files remain on your device throughout the entire process, ensuring complete privacy and security.
What happens to my files after processing?▼
Since all processing occurs locally in your browser, there is nothing to delete from our end. Your files exist only on your device and in your browser memory during processing. Once you close the tab or navigate away, the browser releases this memory. We never have access to your files.
Is there a file size limit?▼
There is no hard file size limit imposed by PDFFlow. However, since processing happens in your browser, very large files (typically over 200MB) may take longer to process or may be limited by your device available memory. For best performance, we recommend files under 100MB each.
What browsers are supported?▼
PDFFlow works in all modern web browsers including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, and Brave. We recommend keeping your browser updated to the latest version for the best experience. The tools also work on mobile browsers on smartphones and tablets.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?▼
PDFFlow can merge PDFs with owner-level restrictions such as printing or editing locks. However, PDFs that require a password to open (user-level encryption) must first be unlocked using our Unlock PDF tool. You will need to know the password to unlock such files.
Does merging or splitting reduce quality?▼
No. PDFFlow copies pages exactly as they exist in the source documents. There is no re-encoding, recompression, or modification of page content. Text, images, vector graphics, links, and all other elements are preserved at their original quality.
How much can the compressor reduce file size?▼
Compression results vary depending on the PDF content. Documents with unoptimized structures, redundant objects, or large embedded resources can see reductions of 20 to 80 percent. Already optimized PDFs will see smaller reductions. The compressor uses structural optimization that does not reduce image quality.
Can I use PDFFlow on my phone?▼
Yes. All PDFFlow tools are fully responsive and work on smartphones and tablets. You can upload, process, and download PDFs on mobile devices using any modern mobile browser. The interface adapts automatically to smaller screens.
Is PDFFlow available offline?▼
PDFFlow requires an internet connection to load the website and tools. However, once the page is loaded, the actual file processing happens locally in your browser. Future versions may include offline support through Progressive Web App technology.
How does PDFFlow make money?▼
PDFFlow is supported by non-intrusive advertising displayed on the website. We believe that essential document tools should be accessible to everyone regardless of their ability to pay, so we choose to offer all tools for free and sustain the service through ads.
Can I use PDFFlow for commercial purposes?▼
